Amitriptyline

Tricyclic used at low doses for nerve pain, headaches, and sleep

Amitriptyline (Elavil) is an older tricyclic antidepressant. Today it is most often prescribed at low doses for nerve pain, migraine prevention, and sleep, rather than for depression.

How the pharmacy helps

We dispense 10 mg, 25 mg, 50 mg, and 75 mg tablets. Low doses (10–25 mg) are usually taken at bedtime.
