Fluoxetine
SSRI for depression, anxiety, OCD, and bulimia
Fluoxetine (Prozac) is one of the longest-used SSRIs. It has a long half-life — meaning it stays in the body longer, which makes a missed dose less disruptive than with shorter-acting SSRIs.
How the pharmacy helps
We dispense capsules and oral solution. Capsules can be opened only on prescriber direction; the solution is helpful for small dose changes or pediatrics.

Fluoxetine self-tapers because of its long half-life. Some prescribers use a brief course of Fluoxetine to ease coming off a different SSRI.
