Levonorgestrel Emergency Contraception

Plan B — emergency contraception used after unprotected sex

Levonorgestrel (Plan B) is emergency contraception taken after unprotected sex or contraceptive failure. It works best the sooner it is taken — within 72 hours, and ideally within 12 hours. It is not the same as a medical abortion.
