Venlafaxine XR
SNRI for depression, anxiety, and panic
Venlafaxine XR (Effexor XR) is an SNRI used for depression and several anxiety disorders. The XR (extended release) form is taken once a day. Stopping abruptly can cause noticeable discontinuation symptoms — a taper is important.

Brief electrical-shock sensations are a known discontinuation symptom of Venlafaxine. They usually pass once the dose is back on schedule.
Higher doses can raise blood pressure. Many prescribers monitor BP after dose increases.
Some patients prefer evenings; others find it activating. Try mornings to start.
