Valacyclovir

Antiviral for cold sores, genital herpes, and shingles

Valacyclovir (Valtrex) treats outbreaks of cold sores, genital herpes, and shingles. It is also used long-term to suppress recurrent outbreaks. Best results come from starting at the first sign of an outbreak.

How the pharmacy helps

We dispense 500 mg and 1000 mg tablets. Many patients keep a small "outbreak supply" so a course can be started quickly.
