What is Scopolamine?

Scopolamine (also known as hyoscine) is an anticholinergic medication that blocks acetylcholine. Our transdermal cream formulation delivers 0.25 mg per 0.1 mL and is supplied in convenient 1 mL syringes.

What is it Used For?

  • Motion sickness prevention and treatment
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Excessive chest secretions/congestion (particularly in palliative care)
  • Certain stomach and intestinal conditions

How to Use

For external use only:

  1. Choose a clean, dry, hairless area behind the ear (free of cuts or irritation)
  2. Wear a glove when applying
  3. Squeeze the prescribed amount from the syringe (usually 0.1–0.2 mL)
  4. Massage the cream into the skin
  5. Wash hands thoroughly — do NOT touch your eyes until hands are washed

The cream may also be applied to the inner wrist.

Side Effects

Common (usually minor):

  • Dry mouth
  • Headache
  • Mild nausea

Report to your prescriber:

  • Agitation, confusion, or hallucinations
  • Blurred vision
  • Dizziness or drowsiness
  • Skin rash or itching
  • Difficulty urinating
