What is Testosterone?

Testosterone is commonly thought of as the male sex hormone, but it is important for both men and women. It belongs to a group of hormones called androgens and plays a role in sex drive, bone and muscle maintenance, heart health, and overall sense of well-being.

Women produce about 10% of the testosterone that men do. Between ages 20 and 40, testosterone production falls by approximately 50% in women and declines further through menopause.

Available Concentrations

We compound testosterone cream across a wide range of concentrations to match your prescriber's dosing requirements:

For women:

  • 0.5%
  • 1%
  • 2%

Women require much lower doses than men. These concentrations are typically dispensed in a Topi-Click applicator for precise, consistent dosing.

For men:

  • 2%
  • 5%
  • 10%
  • 15%
  • 20%

Higher concentrations allow smaller application volumes while delivering the prescribed dose. Men's formulations are available in Topi-Click applicators, pump bottles, or jars depending on the volume and concentration.

Your prescriber selects the concentration based on your blood levels, symptoms, and treatment goals.

When is Testosterone Prescribed?

Symptoms of low testosterone (androgen insufficiency) in both men and women include:

  • Depressed mood and lack of motivation
  • Reduced sex drive (libido)
  • Fatigue and low energy
  • Difficulty maintaining muscle mass
  • Reduced mental sharpness
  • Lack of a general sense of well-being

Low testosterone is diagnosed through blood testing combined with symptom assessment. Your prescriber determines whether testosterone replacement is appropriate.

Why Topical Instead of Oral?

Oral testosterone is generally not recommended due to side effects including elevated blood pressure, blood clotting problems, lipid profile changes, and headaches.

Topical cream allows precise, individualized dosing with the Topi-Click applicator — each click delivers a consistent measured dose. Doses are easily adjusted by changing the number of clicks. Patches offer fixed doses with less flexibility, and injections require clinic visits or self-injection.

How to Apply

  1. Apply to clean, dry skin — inner arm, inner thigh, or as directed by your prescriber
  2. Rotate application sites daily to avoid irritation
  3. If using a Topi-Click applicator, turn the base to dispense the prescribed number of clicks
  4. Rub in gently until the cream is fully absorbed
  5. Wash hands thoroughly with soap and water after application
  6. Avoid skin-to-skin contact with others at the application site — testosterone can transfer through skin contact
  7. Allow the area to dry before dressing

Apply at the same time each day for consistent hormone levels.

Storage

  • Store at room temperature
  • Avoid extreme heat and direct sunlight
  • Keep the Topi-Click applicator upright when not in use
  • Check the beyond-use date on the label

About Testosterone Topical Cream

For women: 0.5%, 1%, and 2%. For men: 2%, 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20%. Your prescriber selects the concentration based on your hormone levels and treatment goals.
Yes. Testosterone is important for women's health — it affects libido, energy, mood, and bone density. Women produce much less testosterone than men, but declining levels can still cause significant symptoms.
The Topi-Click is a metered-dose applicator that delivers a precise, consistent amount of cream with each click. It reduces waste and guesswork compared to applying cream from a jar. Your prescription label will indicate how many clicks to apply per dose.
Yes. Testosterone is absorbed through skin contact. After applying, wash your hands and cover the application site with clothing. Avoid skin-to-skin contact at the application area, particularly with women and children.
