Information to review with your prescriber or care team

These notes are educational and do not replace directions from your prescriber or the label on your prescription.

What is Trimix Gel?

Trimix intraurethral gel is inserted into the urethra using a needleless syringe. It is a different dosage form from Trimix injection and should not be swapped with injectable instructions, syringes, or dose directions.

The prescriber decides whether gel, injection, another medication, a device, or another urology plan is appropriate.

How is it Used?

The exact supply format can vary. Follow the prescription label and the instructions provided with your medication. Trimix gel is inserted into the urethral opening with a needleless syringe, then the prescribed dose is slowly administered.

For the visual patient handout, see the Trimix intraurethral gel instructions.

Dose and Response

Response varies by patient, dose, route, underlying health conditions, and the prescriber's treatment plan. Follow the written prescription directions and the pharmacy label.

The patient instruction page explains setup, insertion, storage, warnings, and what to do if the response does not match the written plan.

Storage

Unmixed: Good for one year. Store in the refrigerator.

After mixing: Must be used within 30 days. Store in the refrigerator.

We provide the product unmixed to give patients the longest possible shelf life.
