Dapagliflozin

SGLT2 inhibitor for diabetes, heart failure, and kidney protection

Dapagliflozin (Forxiga) lowers blood sugar through the kidneys and is also used for heart failure and chronic kidney disease. Same drug class as Empagliflozin.

We dispense 5 mg and 10 mg tablets. Sick-day counselling is given on first fill.

They are very similar. Choice often depends on prescriber preference, insurance coverage, and other conditions being treated.
On its own, the risk is low. Combined with insulin or sulfonylureas, hypoglycemia is more likely.
