Nitrofurantoin

First-line antibiotic for uncomplicated UTI

Nitrofurantoin (Macrobid, Macrodantin) is the recommended first-line oral antibiotic for uncomplicated bladder infections in Canada. Concentrates in the urine and is gentler on bowel flora than broader antibiotics.
