What is Peanut Oral Immunotherapy?

Peanut oral immunotherapy (POIT) is a carefully guided protocol supervised by an allergist/immunologist. Very small, precisely measured amounts of peanut protein are gradually introduced to a peanut-allergic patient to build tolerance over time — without triggering a severe reaction.

Our compounding pharmacy ensures the exact dosage of peanut protein in each capsule, which is critical for safe dose escalation.

Who is This For?

Peanut allergies affect about 2% of the population and account for the majority of deaths related to food allergies. The fear of allergic reactions creates significant anxiety for affected families.

POIT involves a dose escalation phase followed by a maintenance phase, with the goal of reducing or eliminating the allergic response to peanut protein.

Important: An epinephrine injection device (EpiPen) must be available at all times during immunotherapy.
